Editor Navigation
This topic explains the major navigation methods and features for the EL-CID Online Editor.
- The Editor opens from the documents page as a separate browser tab. To exit, close the tab or select “close.”
- The Editor does not have right-click functionality. All features are accessible through left-clicking.
- EL-CID Desktop contains a Data Item Finder fields comparison table, to support users accustomed to DoD 1494 certification information fields. EL-CID Online does not embed the Data Item Finder as a tool the application; instead, the Data Item Finder is presented as a separate help topic.
- The Editor provides navigation buttons located at the far left and far right of the work space / instructions screen area:
Users may also visit specific sections from the Navigation Panel by clicking on the desired section.
Conditional Fields
EL-CID Online helps ensure that only the appropriate and essential information is collected and communicated by applying conditional visibility to certain data fields in the Editor, based upon user input.
This means that the data users input will affect the questions the Editor asks them, and the data fields Editor makes visible in later sections of the data collection process.
For example, when entering Modulation Parameters for a transmitter, users will select a Modulation Type. The fields below the Modulation Type will change based upon whether Pulse, Digital, or Analog is selected.
Modulation Type | Pulse | Analog | Digital |

Workarounds
One of the consequences of conditional formatting is that some sequencing of data entry must still be refined. There are workarounds for current sequencing problems:
There is currently one minor data entry workaround for EL-CID Online Editor.
For Linear or Aperture for antenna types, a user must enter Sidelobe Attenuation data. However, the Sidelobe Data page will not appear until the user has input a Main Beam Gain level on the Modes page.
This may create confusion, because when the Sidelobe Attenuation page appears, it appears previous to the Modes page in the data collection cycle. A user may answer all the questions asked by the Editor and still have errors on the Antenna Summary page.
The workaround for this is to enter the Main Beam Gain Level and other data on the Modes page, then navigate away from the Modes page, either by clicking ,
, or by selecting another page on the Navigation Panel.
The Sidelobe Attenuation/Position link will then appear in the Navigation Panel. Click on that link and enter the appropriate data.
Users can then navigate to the View Summary page to confirm that all required data has been entered for the antenna.
